BRYAN Murphy will manage the Kildare minor footballers for a fifth year in 2013. Having indicated he was stepping down after this year’s Leinster championship defeat to Dublin, Murphy was reappointed at Tuesday night’s (6 November) County Board meeting.

Kildare minor football manager Bryan Murphy

The Clane man – who scored the winning goal in the Lilies’ 1998 Leinster Final victory¬†against Meath¬†– first took charge in 2009 when leading the side to a Leinster Final. However Kildare have not been back in a Leinster final since after three disappointing seasons for the county’s under-18 footballers. Although it was expected that Murphy would be replaced for next season, it became apparent in recent weeks that the Kildare County Board had not made any moves to appoint a successor and have instead returned to Murphy for a fifth year.
