Kildare 2-8 -
KILDARE’S perfect start to the season continued with their eighth straight win of the year thanks to a two-point victory against Kerry in the third round of the National Football League.
Goals in either half from Seanie Johnston and John Doyle ensured Kildare’s third straight win in the league, which moves them joint top of the Division 1 table with Dublin and Tyrone. Kildare led 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time but a wasteful Kerry side shot 16 wides in the game as they squandered the chance to register their first win of the league. Kildare could even afford to miss a penalty when John Doyle’s effort was saved by Brendan Kealy in the 58th minute.
An injury-time point from sub Paddy Brophy finally sealed Kildare’s win.
