Kildare centre-back Paul Mescal – one of three players from last year’s team

Kildare minor football manager Brendan Hackett has named his team for Saturday’s (19 April) Leinster MFC game against Westmeath.

The team contains just three players from last year’s Leinster-winning side: Paul Mescall, Jamie Flynn and Cian McConnell.

Hackett’s side includes three players from reigning county champions Athy – Tadhg Foley, who normally plays in midfield for his club is named in goals – while Mark Hyland, younger brother of Kildare senior star, David – is named at full-back. Rory Feely, younger brother of former county minor Kevin, is named in midfield alongside Raheens’ Matthew Bursey. Sarsfields also have three players in the team – Cian McConnell at corner-back, Conor Hartley and Ben McCormack in attack.
