A LOCAL family are celebrating this week after collecting a cheque for €250,000 at Lotto Headquarters in Dublin yesterday.
The ticket holder, who wished to remain private, struck gold on the Lotto Plus 2 draw, on a ticket which was purchased at Maxol on the Sallins Road in Naas. That ticket-holder collected his prize yesterday, accompanied by family who were over the moon at the win.
A Lotto spokesperson explained that the family, who were local to the Naas area, had been renting a house but were now planning to use the money to buy a family home.
“The winner didn’t actually check his ticket until Saturday. He had been back to the shop since Wednesday’s draw and saw all of the balloons and signs for having sold a winning ticket and then realised that he hadn’t checked his own numbers.
“He spent hours on Saturday looking for his ticket! He eventually found it and rang us then on Monday morning. It has been verified and it is a winning ticket.”
The ticket was sold on Wednesday last, the day of the Lotto draw. The Maxol station on the Sallins Road had previously sold a €1 million winning Euromillions Ireland Only Raffle ticket in May of this year.
A delighted store owner, Conor Sherry, said: “With two life-changing lottery wins in the space of a couple of months, we are certainly proving to be a lucky charm for our customers. The store is situated in a busy residential area while we also have a lot of trade with the large multinational companies in the area. We will be celebrating the win in-store and we’ll certainly be reminding all of our customers to check their tickets.”
