MAY Day 1968 saw the grand opening of Kilkea Castle Hotel by the late Dr Erskine Childers.

American Dr Bill Cade purchased the Castle and grounds in the late 1960s and lovingly restored it into a beautiful hotel.

Last Tuesday 1 May 2018, exactly 50 years to the day after the castle first opened its doors as a hotel, a group of former staff, including some of the original staff, gathered in the Castle to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

Pictured at the Kilkea Castle 50 year reunion were Ruth O’Shea, Phil and Joe O’Rourke, Lily Morrissey, Mags Lynch, Kathleen Phelan, Stacia O’Reilly, Kay Byrne, Mary Smith, Sally Cade, Rom Hyde, Noel Kearns, T.J. Farrell, P.J. Brennan and Sally Purcell

The red carpet was rolled out and the guests were greeted with a glass of Fruit Cup. There was a warm fire glowing in the very comfortable lounge where everyone got reacquainted.
