A COUNTY councillor has asked that road signs around Newbridge be cleaned regularlyo help with Tidy Town efforts.

Cllr Sean Power asked at the December gathering of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District that the policy for cleaning signs erected by the council be outlined as some signs in the area don’t reflect well on the town.

“Sometimes it is very difficult to read them,” said Cllr Power.

“Look at the efforts put in by the Tidy Towns committess, it is important as a local authority that we play our part.”

He was told by council officials that sign cleaning is part of routine maintenance, along with verge trimming, pothole repairs and gully cleaning carried out routinely during the year in line with resources and budget.
