THE  search for this year’s Kildare Rose get underway this week.

The organisers of the Rose of Tralee International Festival have revamped the selection process by removing the regional qualification aspect of the event to ensure that every Rose who is selected each year will feature in the TV final which will be broadcast from the Dome on RTÉ.

From 2019, most centres would select a Rose bi-annually, and others will select two out of three years, such that 32 Roses will be hosted in Tralee annually to enjoy everything that Ireland’s flagship family festival has to offer – parades, gala functions, entertainment, televised Rose selection nights, a Rose Tour and much more. Roses representing Kerry, Cork and Dublin will continue to be selected every year. This means that the 2019 Kildare Rose will go straight through to TV final and the next Kildare Rose after that will be selected in 2021.

This year’s Kildare final will be held on 25 May in the Westgrove hotel, Clane.

Jerry Russell Westgrove Hotel GM   said: “At The Westgrove Hotel Leisure Club and Spa we are very excited to welcome back the Kildare Rose Competition in 2019. The Rose of Tralee is a unique and huge part of an Irish summer and is looked forward to by so many Irish families both here and abroad. It is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our recently refurbished rooms and to play our part in making the talented young women that enter the Kildare Rose Competition feel special. We are thrilled and delighted to be the main sponsor of this wonderful event”

For the past five years the Kildare Rose has supported the Jack and Jill Foundation, the Kildare based charity. In 2018 lose to €1000   was handed over to the charity and over the past five years a total of €6,850 has been raised, which has provided 428 hours of care to sick children.

Gary Patrick Hair Design, Newbridge will continue to be the hair sponsors for 2019 and provide hair care for the 2019 Kildare Rose in all her duties as she represent her county.

Grainne Carr from Ardclough was crowned the 2018 Kildare Rose in May and has been a fantastic ambassador for the country and will continue to be in her duties over the coming months before she hands over her sash.
