A LITTER bin will be installed at the newly opened skate park at Moorefield Park following a number of complaints about litter being dumped on the green area.

Deputy Fiona O’Loughlin said she had received an influx of calls to her office about the rubbish accumpating around the new skate park.

“I visited the area on Monday morning and was completely taken back by the amount of litter around the skate park and the green area including beer cans,” she said.

She subsequently contact the county council and was advised that a litter bin will be installed this week which they hope will reduce the amount of people disposing of their waste on the ground.

“I have also requested that the litter pickers include the green area in their daily cleaning routine of the town. The skate park is located at such a prominent area that the waste is seen and an eye sore for anyone passing by,” she added.
