THE  very popular Killinthomas Wood in Rathanagn is becoming a victim of its own success, said a local councillor.

Cllr Mark Stafford asked at the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting on Wednesday if the district committee would enter into discussions with Coillte regarding improving access and car parking at wood.

“Parking is becoming an issue and the surface of the car park is a problem as well,” he said.

“The surface of the lane is reasonable good.”

He suggested Coillte would look at exploring an alternative entrance to the wood at Ballydermot.

“There are issues with dumping and dogs not an leashes also but I think it would be beneficial if we opened discussions,” he said.

The members agreed that contact would be made with Coillte.
