TWO young neighbours from Kildare town know how it feels to be well ‘liked’.

Eleven-year-old Kaitlyn McGannon and Katie O’Keeffe have amassed almost 2,500 likes for a sign language video they created to promote their club.

The pair are neighbours of Sharon and Brandon Webb, the mother and son duo who received the Lucy Kennedy’s golden buzzer recently for their performance on Ireland’s Got Talent.* In the video they sign the words as the Webbs sing  You Are the Reason by Calum Scott which was a huge hit with the judges and presenter of the TV talent show.

Kaitlyn and Katie created the video to promote a sign language club they started after self learning the skill from books and online tutorials.

The club was run with the help of youth group The Hive before it was taken over by Foróige because of its popularity. Both girls were made youth leaders and will now take part in the Foróige regional conference. They will also have the chance to show off the accomplishments at the Aldi ForoigeYouth Citizenship awards in City West.

“It is such a great opportunity for them,” said Kaitlyn’s mother Charlene.

“They want to use this video to promote their club.”

The girl’s club Time to Sign Foróige takes place in The Hive every Friday at 7.30pm.
