LAST year, Athy Lions Club set about raising funds for St Vincent’s Hospital in Athy. It was one of many projects as the club continues to fundraise and support many groups and organisations in the local community. They held many events ranging from concerts and 5k runs to an amazing auction.

Last week the club was able to provide funds of €6,000 to the Patient Comfort Fund at St Vincent’s Hospital Athy.

Members of the club were delighted to be allowed to pay a visit to the magnificent Le Cheile ward where they money will be used in the sensory areas for patients with dementia.

A special thanks to all who supported the fundraising events and the many people who helped organise them including Athy Triathlon Club; Ger Brennan, President of Athy RFC, for their donation of a signed All-Black jersey; Eric Conway for a signed Leinster jersey; Shane Sullivan, Kevin Morrin and Brian Hughes for their help with the concert, and many, many more for their great help throughout.

Special thanks must also go to all Lions members who continue to serve those in our community.
