NEWBRIDGE and Leixllip have excelled on their return to the Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) litter league.

Both towns have been awarded“Cleaner than European Norms status” with Newbridge n seventh place and Leixlip in 11th of the 40 towns and cities nationwide.

The An Taisce report for Newbridge stated: “An excellent result for Newbridge with eight out of the ten sites surveyed getting the top litter grade and no heavily littered sites.   Particularly good sites included the river walk at Bad Lippspringe Way (excellent in terms of presentation and maintenance), Main Street and Eyre Street.   Main Street scored particularly well as it is a very long street and thus presents more opportunity for littering.   The clothing facility at Dunnes Stores could quickly deteriorate if not addressed.”
