KILDARE town’s Deane Hair Design beat off the competition to win the Team of the Year accolade at the Irish Hair & Beauty Awards 2019 – Chapter 1.
More than 450 of the country’s elite hair professionals gathered for a glittering night at the Crowne Plaza Dublin Airport Hotel to celebrate their successes over the last year, with the awards recognising and rewarding the best in the Irish hair industry.
Karen Deane, who runs the salon with Michelle, told the Kildare Nationalist* that they were delighted with their success. Thirteen of the fourteen-strong team at Deane Hair Design travelled to Dublin for the event on Sunday 25 August and she said there was a great buzz around the place the following Monday when they returned after the glitzy affair.
“We’re thrilled. It’s definitely the award that we wanted most,” she said. “It was brilliant, it was a great night.”
The salon has described its work family as the reason why it’s such a success, with everyone working together to create a friendly, efficient, professional and relaxing environment for their clients. Everyone is so passionate about hair, they say, and they support one another professionally and personally.
According to Karen, there’s a great team spirit and everyone gives their all. “The girls are amazing,” she explained, noting that some are with them since the salon opened its doors 15 years ago. “Everybody gets along great, the girls are best friends outside of the salon. Everybody helps each other out in work.”
It’s success two years in a row now for Deane Hair Design. Last year the Kildare town salon won the Outstanding Salon of the Year award and was nominated again this year, as well as for Stylist of the Year (Donna Sweeney), Colour Technician of the Year (Lauren Heffernan), and Creative Hair Stylist of the Year (Pamela Mooney).
The awards are now in their fifth year, with finalists selected and voted for by the public. This year’s event was hosted by best-selling author and TV presenter Andrea Hayes.
“Congratulations to all winners and finalists at the Irish Hair and Beauty Awards 2019 Chapter 1. We welcomed and rewarded some of the best in the beauty industry and celebrated their creativity at a fun and eventful night,” said Irfan Younis, CEO of Creative Oceanic, the firm that runs these awards and a number of others across the world.
“The awards celebrated the growth and profitability of the hair and beauty industry. All winners and finalists should feel really proud of themselves as the competition was really tough this year. We commit to continue pushing businesses and professionals forward to showcase themselves and get the recognition they deserve.”
