A primary school teacher working at the Gaelscoil in Athy has launched an Irish language project on social media.

‘Scéalta le Spraoi’ – which can be accessed on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube – is the brainchild of múinteoir Aislinn Nic Pháidín and aims to support the families of children attending gaelscoileanna while schools are closed (children in other schools can also benefit).

Ms Nic Pháidín noted that many gaelscoileanna across the country choose to follow the tumoideachas (immersion education) approach and teach infant classes fully as Gaeilge. She explained that it’s hugely important, particularly for the younger classes, that they continue to have some level of access to spoken Irish during this period.
