A vehicle was clocked at 76km/h in a 50km/h zone on the R445 Mooreabbey Demesne, Monasterevin as part of National Slow Down Day.

Since 7am, An Garda Síochána and GoSafe have checked the speed of 44,105 vehicles with 349 vehicles detected travelling in excess of the applicable speed limit.

Other notable speeds so far include 99km/h in a 50km/h zone on the R707, Burgagery Lands East, Clonmel, Tipperary and 124km/h in a 80km/h zone on the M50, Kilmore Big, Dublin 17.
