A DECISION is due from Kildare Co Council on the proposed construction of a 24m high multi-operator telecommunications support structure, carrying antennas and dishes, at Walshestown, Newbridge.
The proposed development by Three Ireland (Hutchison) Ltd would also involve ‘associated ground level equipment cabin and cabinets, security fencing, use of existing access and access track, and extension of access track’.
According to a document available to view on the council’s online planning system, ‘this site is required to be built due to population growth in the area, and growing user needs… the proposed site will improve local 3G, 4G & 5G services to Walshestown and environs’.
It goes on to note that, originally, Three Ireland were planning on building a site in Newbridge Business Park ‘for which full planning approval was sought and granted. This site is no longer being progressed and its intended coverage area is being replaced by Walshestown’.
