Vincent O’Rourke, from Clane had a great weekend at Mondello Park, as motorsport started again for the first time since 2019.
Racing in the Irish Stryker class, the Sheehy Motors salesman qualified second, ahead of many more experienced drivers and when the lights changed he made the perfect start to lead the pack into turn one. Unfortunately, while batting for the lead, Vincent’s helmet fogged up and he was forced to ease off, coming home in fourth place.

In race two, The Naas Oil backed driver once again made a great start and grabbed the lead for the second time. Race one winner David Reynolds eventually managed to get by but Vincent stayed close and crossed the line to take second, less than two seconds behind the winner. He is now second in the championship, with the next two rounds back at Mondello Park on August 22/23.
“That was a great weekend. I am still learning the car and there is definitely more to come” said a beaming O’Rourke afterwards.
