IT’S a very different looking KDFL that will kick off evening when Clane Utd play Rathangan in the Senior Division. The season was due to start in late March but the Covid lockdown put paid to that and instead, it will be a shortened season which will be played and the hope is that everything will completed before the end of the year and that there will be a return to normality in time for the start of the 2021 season.

Each of the seven divisions has been split into two groups and the top two in each will progress to a semi-final and there will be a league final in each division. The shortened season means that there will be no Lumsden Cup or League Shield competition and the inaugural Adrian Melia Charity Shield has also been deferred. The later start to the season perhaps will suit clubs better when it comes to the provincial and national competitions and the KDFL Oscar Traynor team are also still awaiting the opportunity to play their quarter-final tie against the Galway League.
