The Roads Policing Unit based in Naas Garda Station, along with the Road Safety Authority personnel performed checkpoints in Carbury and Kilcock on Monday evening. All road users were targeted in this operation with special emphasis on heavy goods vehicles.
Four vehicles were seized under Section 41; three for unaccompanied learned drivers and one for driving while disqualified and no insurance.
In that instance, the driver was arrested and charged.
A number of roadside tests for drug driving were also carried out and all passed.
The Roads Safety Authority personnel detected eight HGV with major defects such as steering and tyres and one with a minor defect. One tachograph offence was also detected.
All offenses will be dealt with through FCPNs or through the courts
