NEWBRIDGE-Kildare Lions Club are holding an emergency fundraiser for their Christmas Food Appeal and are looking for golfers to answer their call to action.

The club’s annual golf outing takes place at Cill Dara Golf Club this weekend Friday 2 to Sunday 4 October

“Covid 19 has caused a huge collapse in fundraising for all charities. We usually raise about € 30,000 each year and every penny we raise is spent looking after those who need our help and assistance,” said club member Morgan McCabe.

“We have a big bunker to climb out of and climb out we will. Starting with the Cill Dara Golf Outing which is an open, with mens and ladies prizes, it is an 18 Hole Singles Stableford competition. Please support this event and bring a friend,” he said.

“With Christmas only 12 weeks away we are starting a fundraising drive for our Annual Food Appeal. This is a very important time where we deliver food hampers and vouchers to families in need. We depend on the support of the community to continue to deliver this service. The sad reality is we are needed more than ever now with so many people out of work or surviving on very reduced incomes.

“Newbridge and Kildare have always stood up to support their communities, please help us to help your community for you,” he added.
