As Klub Kildare prepares to take on Shamrock Rovers in the U15 SSE Airtricity League Cup in Tougher Park on Saturday (KO 3.30pm), squad member, Dylan Dunning, gives us an insight into the feelings in the squad for the game.

AFTER taking sixteen points from six games in the U15 SSE Airtricity League first phase, the Klub Kildare U15 squad gained qualification to the elite phase of the League. That’s a fantastic achievement in its own right, but there is a feeling in the camp that we have more to prove.
We finished a disappointing seventh in last year’s Kennedy Cup, and since then we’ve been waiting for this opportunity to put right what went wrong in Limerick. We haven’t taken our foot off the throttle in the last sixteen months.
The team has been improving at an exponential rate, thanks to some new signings and through the countless training sessions, which has given us the confidence to go out and win every game. Our first League of Ireland game in September was our first competitive match since the Kennedy Cup, and after a nervous start we bounced back to win our next five games and qualify top of our group.
The excitement levels went up again last week when we received confirmation of our group for the next phase. With games against Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians and Cork City, we won’t get a better chance to measure ourselves against the best.
It is well known that to be the best you have to beat the best, and that’s been our sole aim for the two years this squad has played together. With the disappointing experiences of the Galway Cup and the Kennedy Cup driving us on, we can’t let another chance pass by that leaves us with regrets.
