MOONE trainer, Jessica Harrington completed a double at Punchestown yesterday with Crosshill, with Paddy Kennedy on board, in the opening race and Ever Present a 25/1 winner in the big BETDAQ Casino INH Flat Race. No big news there you might say with the recent successes of Harrington.

Winner alright! 16 year old Kildare jockey, Mikey McGuane

The big news was that the jockey on Ever Present, was 16 year old Kildare lad, Mikey McGuane who was riding his first ever winner in only his second ever ride.

The fifth year student, who has been riding at the Moone stables since he was 12,  caused a shock on the afternoon by bringing Ever Present home ahead of The Big Story (Finny Maguire) and Joseph Conrad (Jamie Codd).

McGuane’s local GAA club, Grangenolvin GFC, took to Twitter to congratulate what they called “our very own superstar.”
