Athy MD councillor Mark Leigh has called on the council to fix the area behind council houses in Ballitore, which he said is in need of immediate attention due to potholes.
A response to his motion, which was raised at their November meeting, explained that in the short-term remedial works can be carried out. In the longer term, the council will need to consider this area for resurfacing and the MD will have to identify a source of funding for that.
Cllr Leigh said there are six or seven houses with a courtyard at the back which has been damaged for the last number of years. He asked that it be done as soon as possible.
Cllr Ivan Keatley noted his support and said that resurfacing needs to be carried out if not in the short-term then in the very near future.
And Cathaoirleach Aoife Breslin remarked that it may be an item for local property tax (LPT) discussions which will be happening.
