A decisive victory in today’s (Wednesday) rescheduled Lawlor’s Hotel of Naas Novice Hurdle at Naas Racecourse has seen Bob Olinger move into second favourite for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham in March according to Boyle Sports.
Henry De Bromhead’s charge had Willie Mullins’ Blue Lord for company going over the penultimate hurdle but went clear in the run-in to justify 6/4 favouritism to add to his maiden hurdle victory at Navan last month.
BoyleSports reacted by slashing his Ballymore chances in half from 8/1 to 4/1, with Paul Nicholls’ Bravemansgame clinging onto favouritism at 7/2.
Earlier on the card, Energumene made it two from two over fences with an 8½ length victory over Captain Guinness after making all the running in the 2m Novice Chase.
With a comfortable victory at Gowran Park already under his belt from November, the Willie Mullins-trained 7-year-old is now the second favourite for the Arkle at 7/1 from 14/1 behind 8/11 favourite Shishkin.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said, “Bob Olinger was a 14/1 shot before the off to win at Naas and Cheltenham and our customers are clearly excited that the double is going to land now. We’ve gone 4/1 from 8/1 in the Ballymore, but that hasn’t stopped the support coming in so we wouldn’t be surprised to have a new favourite very soon.”
