THE Big Dog, trained by Monasterevin based Peter Fahey, is out of the Boyle Sports Irish Grand National on Bank Holiday Monday having been withdrawn on Monday morning because of the quickening conditions at Fairyhouse over the last few days. The horse had been given honourable mention by Kildare Nationalist Sport columnist, Niall “Slippers” Madden in his Fairyhouse Preview.

Speaking to the Kildare Nationalist after his success in Cheltenham with Belfast Banter, Peter Fahey said on The Big Dog, “He won a National Trial at Punchestown and if we get a bit of rain he has a great chance.” Unfortunately for Peter and The Big Dog the rains didn’t come.

Slippers’ fancy, Latest Exhibition, remains favourite to capture the the 2021 Irish Grand National with Ten Ten for Philip Dempsey as his bigger priced fancy.
