KILDARE Senior Football Manager, Jack O’Connor, has announced a very “youthful” if inexperienced panel for the Allianz National Football League, which begins on 15 May, and with such a short time-frame it is likely that, baring injuries, the same squad will feature in the Leinster Championship as well.

Already shorn of the services of the likes of Peter Kelly, Tommy Moolick and Keith Cribbin (all retired) and Johnny Byrne (concentrating on hurling) the Kildare supremo will also have to do without the likes of Mattie Byrne (Defence Forces Duty) and Ben McCormack (new work commitments). Niall Kelly is a long term injury, but is making good progress, according to O’Connor, while there are also injury concerns for Fergal Conway, Jack Robinson and Aaron O’Neill.

15 different clubs are represented on the panel.

Newcomers to the panel include, Adam Steed (St Laurences), Alex Beirne (Naas), Brian McLoughlin, (Clane), Chris Byrne (Clane), Jack Sargent (Eadestown), Mark Glynn (St Laurences) Paddy McDermott (Naas) Shane O’Sullivan (Clane) and Barry Kelly (Athy).

Kildare face Cork at the neutral venue of Thurles on Saturday week before taking on Clare (Newbridge) and Laois (Portlaoise) on subsequent weekends.
