The Board of the Curragh Racecourse Limited (CRL) have, this afternoon, announced the appointment, following a competitive recruitment process, of Brian Kavanagh as the CEO of the Curragh Racecourse Limited. Mr Kavanagh, who will succeed Pat Keogh in the role, will take up the position in November.
According to a statement issued on behalf of The Curragh Racecourse Ltd, Brian Kavanagh, who is currently Chief Executive of Horse Racing Ireland, brings with him a wealth of experience in the racing industry and the statement adds that he is a welcome addition to CRL to lead the racecourse and training grounds into the future.
Speaking of the appointment, Padraig McManus, Chairman of the Board of CRL said, “The Board are looking forward to welcoming Brian into his new role as CEO of the Curragh Racecourse and training grounds, and looks forward to Brian leading the Curragh as we prepare for racing post-Covid world and growing the world class training ground facilities here at the Curragh together with the strong, committed team we have already in place.”
“We also want to put on record how extremely grateful we are to Pat Keogh for the tremendous job he has done, and for his leadership of the Curragh Racecourse and training grounds over the last two years,” Mr McManus concluded.
The Curragh will welcome crowds to the track for the first time in over 12 months for the Derby weekend at the end of the month.
