THE HSE’s COVID-19 test centre at Punchestown marked a significant milestone last Wednesday 21 July, having taken their 100,000th swab since opening on 24 August 2020.

That momentous occasion involved one Kathryn O’Connell Ruhle, from the Kill/Naas area originally but living in Cheltenham now, who when asked if she was surprised to arrive and find she was the 100,000th person to get a swab replied “absolutely.”

Speaking of the test centre in Punchestown Convention Centre, she said “it is absolutely fantastic, so well-run, very efficient, the staff are excellent at making you feel comfortable.”

She noted that she was back to visit family – “I’ve been away for a year-and-a-half, it’s the longest I’ve ever been out of this country, I normally come home… three or four times a year.”

See full report and meet the staff and volunteers who man the centre in a special rep0rt in next week’s Kildare Nationalist in your shops on Tuesday.
