Christopher Berns

The search of the Barrow in Athy for missing man Christopher Berns, who was last seen beside the river on Wednesday evening, has been stood down for today.

The Garda Water Unit attended this morning and conducted a search. The operation featured the assistance of the Civil Defence search dogs and their drones, while the Garda Air Support Unit attended with their drone also.

The search will continue tomorrow morning.

Mr Berns’ daughter Jacqueline has appealed for the public’s assistance in finding her father.

“My dad has gone missing and this is very unlike him. Please if anyone has seen or heard anything get in contact on either 085 8300496 or contact Athy Garda station on 059 8634210,” she said. “His car was found parked at the Barrow River in Athy yesterday evening 12 January at 5.05pm. “Please help us try and bring my dad home. We are absolutely heartbroken,” said Jacqueline.

When last seen, Mr Berns was wearing a blue jumper with a shirt underneath and navy tracksuit bottoms.
