Kildare Co Council has been asked to write to parking management firm APCOA asking that a map of all disabled parking spaces in Naas be added to their app.

That particular query was raised by Naas MD councillor Evie Sammon at their January meeting. Members were informed by way of a written report that the APCOA Connect app is designed for the use of paying for parking and, as there is no charge for parking in a disabled bay when the motorist has displayed a valid disability badge, disability bays cannot be added to the app.

However, the council’s Roads section is currently in discussions with APCOA with regard to an app that will identify locations of all disability bays in all parking byelaw towns in the county, ‘with the intention to possible development and inclusion of locations of other facilities/services.’

Cllr Sammon said she was happy with the response, adding that it’s what Limerick has done – they do their own parking and have “a great app.” She said there could be other items on it like car park locations.
