KILDARE were crowned U14 LGFA All Ireland Gold Champions when they had a 2-9 to 0-7 victory over Tipperary in the Final in Crettyard on Saturday.
Tipperary opened the brightest and had two points on the board inside two minutes from Abbie Horgan. Kildare responded in style with points from Keelin Dermody and Amy Jones (free) and a goal from Dermody to lead 1-2 t0 0-2 by the 11th minute. An Aoibheann Birchall point was cancelled out by a free from Grace Hogan for Tipperary at the end of the first quarter.
Kildare then took the game by the scruff of the neck inside the last 10 minutes of the half with a goal and a point from Birchall followed by two late points from Jones (free) and Dermody with a point finishing off the half for Tipp through Horgan to leave the Lilywhites leading 2-6 to 0-4 at half time.
Grace Hogan reduced the deficit with two frees for Tipp in the third quarter but three Aoibhe Kelly points in the final quarter kept Kildare firmly in control even when Tipp were awarded a penalty on the dying minutes which was pointed by Louise McGrath.

Tipperary Scores: Abbie Horgan 0-3, Grace Hogan 0-3 (fs), Louise McGrath 0-1 (pen).
Meanwhile two late goals helped the Kildare to turn around a one point half time deficit (2 -3 to 1-7) to defeat Dublin by five points, 4-7 to 1-11 in Round 3 of the Leinster LGFA Minor Football Championship in TU Blanchardstown also on Saturday afternoon.
