Kildare South TD and Minister Martin Heydon has confirmed that Kildare Co Council will be receiving €807,328 from the Community Recognition Fund, designed to specifically support communities across the country that have welcomed and are hosting families and citizens from Ukraine and other countries.

Minister Heydon said this funding will be used to support a variety of initiatives that will be delivered in conjunction with community organisations.

“The Fund aims to support the development of facilities that will be used in the future by all members of the community, including sports clubs, community organizations, transport infrastructure, and local groups in recognition of the vital role that a thriving community plays in overcoming the collective challenges from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine,” he said.

“Communities across Kildare have exhibited exceptional generosity in recent weeks, extending the open arms of hospitality and opening their homes and facilities to those fleeing war.

“I would like to encourage community groups across Kildare to engage directly with Kildare Co Council in the coming weeks to ensure that high quality projects can be delivered from this funding, benefitting our towns and villages for years to come.”
