LEINSTER FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION WOMENS INTER LEAGUE SHIELD FINAL 2022/23 -PREVIEW
The KDFL Women’s representative team travel to the MDL Grounds Trim Rd Navan on Sunday to take on the North Eastern Football League in the LFA Inter League shield final. The game was postponed a number of weeks ago following a bereavement in the NEFL.
Wayne Long and his backroom team have added an injection of talent to their original FAI Angela Hearst Women’s Inter League squad last Spring and now boast an array of talent from no less than six KDFL clubs. They have progressed very well in their previous two campaigns to reach the shield final with a very young side integrating very well with the experienced campaigners in the squad.
Captain Bernie Bowe continues to impress in a back line that works extremely hard. Brooke Dunne, Stacey Long and the talented Aoife Daly will keep the side ticking over in the engine room while Clane United’s Molly Nason has the ability to hurt teams with goals from anywhere around the eighteen yard box.
The NEFL secured their place in Sunday’s shield final having also finished second in their respective group. A talented side that secured an impressive 2-2 draw with the Metropolitan schoolgirl league demonstrates the obvious offensive power they possess. A great game is guaranteed, all support welcomes. Best wishes to Wayne, Ray, Emmet and the girls.
