Leinster Senior League – Premier Sunday
KILCOCK CELTIC 7
NAAS AFC 1
By Neil Jordan
NAAS AFC were the visitors to the Bawnogues on Sunday morning as Kilcock Celtic looked to continue their form in 2023. The Hoops almost scored within the first two minutes when Mike Brown squared it to Eoin Hannigan. The home side would take the lead minutes later when a Kevin Smith corner eventually found Josh Sherlock, whose low drive was initially blocked by the Naas keeper, but Eoin Hannigan followed in like all good strikers to tap home the opener.

It was two shortly after when an Eoin McArdle through ball, found his midfielder partner Josh Sherlock and made no mistake to double the lead for the home side. Kilcock kept mounting pressure, creating many chances. It was soon three when Mike Brown played a one two with Hannigan, and after a long bursting run from his half, he kept his composure to score. Hannigan scored his second of the game in twenty – six minutes when Kevin Smith went on the overlap and the found striker who toe poked home his second of the game.
Further chances fell to Conor Lawless and Dan Gilbert but the Celts were unable to take advantage. It was five just before the break when Mike Brown went charging down the right once more and found Eoin Hannigan in the box who slotted home his third to complete his first half hattrick.
Into the second half, and Kilcock looked to keep the pressure on to try add to their five goals in the first half. After ten minutes of play it was six when Mike Brown played in Eoin Hannigan once more to score his fourth of the match. In the fifty-eight minute the further pressure by the Celts paid off when Eoin Hannigan almost scored his 5th goal for it only to deflect off the Naas defender into the far side of the net to make it 7-0.
From the restart the Kilcock tried to keep the same intensity up, however in the 63rd minute a mix up in defence led to Naas pulling a goal back. The remainder of the game was quite flat with very few chances created in the final quarter. The final score in the Bawnogues was Kilcock Celtic 7-1 Naas AFC.
