AN GARDA Síochána in Kildare have arrested 27 motorists over the past seven days for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the county.

In an online post, Gardaí reminded the public of the serious consequences associated with drink and drug driving.

Penalties include disqualification periods ranging from one to six years, fines of up to €5,000, and imprisonment for up to six months.

“Intoxicated driving significantly increases the risk of collisions, injuries, and fatalities,” said the Gardaí in the post.

An Garda Síochána are urging all motorists to act responsibly and drive according to the law.
